FEDPOLICY.ORG · Identity

The identity.

Palette, typography and marks, plus the voice and the facts, published for the people who already have a reason to use them. Every value here is the one the site actually uses; the files are rendered from the same fonts.

Palette

A paper ground, ink type, one accent hue. Roughly sixty per cent paper, thirty ink and rule, ten steel blue — and the blue is spent on what is live or clickable, not on decoration.

Paper

Off-white, never pure white. Everything sits on it; nothing competes with it.

Ink

Steel blue

One hue, nine steps. It marks what is live or clickable — kickers, links, chart lines, the .ORG — and is never poured as a field except the footer's deep step.

Marks

Two marks, both plain type. The wordmark where there is room; the FP. monogram for favicons and tight quarters. There is no seal, shield, eagle or dome, and there never will be — the site is not a government website and must not look like one.

Share card

Every article and data page gets a card at 1600 × 900, built at publish time from the page's own title and stamps. The frame, the four corner marks, the badge and the lockup along the bottom rule are fixed; only the words change. The blank template is here for anyone who needs to match it.

Editorial identity

The look follows the discipline, not the other way round. These are the rules the pages are written and built to; the methodology states them in full.

Plain language
Short sentences, no jargon without a definition beside it. A reader with no background should finish the page knowing what the thing is.
Nonpartisan
No endorsements, no positions, no opinion columns. What a policy does, not whether it should.
Stamped, or not shown
Every figure carries the reference period and the date it was retrieved. A figure that has not been read from its source is not displayed.
Edited, not all hand-written
Clem Ziroli III edits every page. Some text is drafted or maintained with algorithmic and AI systems and reviewed before publication; the editor is answerable for it.
Independent
Independent · Nonpartisan · Not a government website. No advertising, no sponsorship, no affiliation with any agency, party or advocacy organisation.

Machine-readable identity

The publisher facts, in a form an assistant or a partner site can copy. The same facts drive /llm-info, /llms.txt and the Organization block on every page, so they cannot drift.

Press kit

Brand marks, palette and typography for editorial use are published on this page. Direct downloads:

Usage rules are below. FEDPOLICY.ORG appears in capitals only — never “Fedpolicy” or “fedpolicy”. Marks are not modified, recoloured or rotated. Steel blue is the accent, not a field colour. Nothing that looks like a government emblem goes near the marks.

Usage

  1. Capitals, always. FEDPOLICY.ORG — never “Fedpolicy.org” or “fedpolicy”. The handle is @FED_POLICY.
  2. The .ORG takes the accent. In the wordmark the suffix is always steel blue (600 on paper, 400 reversed). Never all-ink, never all-blue.
  3. Do not modify the marks. No recolouring, re-proportioning, rotating, outlining or effects. Use the files as supplied.
  4. Breathing room. Clear space around the wordmark of at least the cap height of the F on every side.
  5. No emblems. No seal, shield, eagle, dome, flag or column, near the marks or anywhere on a page. The site is not a government website and must not look like one.
  6. Blue is accent, not field. Steel blue marks what is live or clickable. The one exception is the deep 900 step, used as the footer field and the reversed share card.
  7. Say what it is. When naming the publication in copy: “FEDPOLICY.ORG, an independent, nonpartisan explainer site.” Not “official”, not “agency”.
