Privacy policy
What this site collects about you, which is less than most, and exactly where it goes.
The short version
There are no accounts, no advertising, no tracking pixels from ad networks, and nothing is sold. Two things touch your data: the host that serves the pages, and one analytics tool that records how pages are used. Both are named below.
Hosting
The site is served by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub receives your IP address and standard request details when your browser fetches a page, and handles them under GitHub’s privacy statement. We do not have access to those logs.
Analytics: Microsoft Clarity
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is read — which pages are opened, how far people scroll, where they click, and session replays that show those movements. Clarity records device and browser type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the pages you visit here. It sets first-party cookies on this domain to tell one visit from the next. By default it masks the text you type into any form, and this site has no forms that submit anything in any case.
Clarity is run by Microsoft, which processes the data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement and describes the product’s own handling at clarity.microsoft.com. We use it to see which explanations are working and which are not. We do not use it to identify individuals, and it does not give us your name.
If you would rather not be recorded, blocking third-party scripts or cookies in your browser stops Clarity from loading. The site works identically without it.
Search
The site search runs entirely in your browser. Your queries are not sent to us or to anyone else.
The newsletter form
The newsletter sign-up is currently a placeholder and does not collect or store anything. If that changes, this page will say so, name the provider, and be re-dated.
Contact
The publication’s only contact channel is @FED_Policy on X. If you write there, X’s own privacy policy governs that conversation.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
This policy is dated at the foot of the page. If what we collect changes, the page changes and the date moves.
