Williams says wait and see on whether further rate action is needed
New York Fed President John Williams told CNBC's Squawk Box that "we have to wait and see" whether current policy is "sufficient to make sure we bring inflation back to target in the next year or two, or whether you need to see further action to do that." He said the recent rise in Treasury yields reflected "a strong U.S. economy and a strong economic outlook fueled by big investments in AI and data centers and technology in general," and that it is "more about the economy affecting financial conditions." CNBC cited CME Group pricing around a 66 percent chance of a rate increase at the September 15-16 meeting.
