Merchant-wholesaler inventories rose 1.3 percent in July
The Census Bureau said merchant-wholesaler inventories, except manufacturers' sales branches and offices, were $958.9 billion at the end of July, up 1.3 percent from the revised June level and unrevised from the advance estimate. Inventories were up 5.7 percent from July 2025. Sales were $801.3 billion, up 0.8 percent from revised June and up 13.0 percent from July 2025. The May-to-June sales change was revised from down 3.0 percent to down 2.9 percent. The July inventories-to-sales ratio was 1.20, compared with 1.28 in July 2025.
