Real median household income rose to $87,460 in 2025
The U.S. Census Bureau reported that real median household income was $87,460 in 2025, up 2.6 percent from $85,210 in 2024 and the highest on record since 1967. The official poverty rate fell 0.5 percentage point to 10.2 percent, with 34.5 million people in poverty. The official child poverty rate was 13.4 percent. Median post-tax household income was $76,060, up 3.1 percent from $73,760. The female-to-male earnings ratio for full-time, year-round workers rose to 83.9 percent from 80.6 percent. The Supplemental Poverty Measure rate was 13.1 percent, and 26.7 million people (7.9 percent) were uninsured for the entire year; neither figure was statistically different from 2024.
