Services PMI eased to 54.9 in September
ISM said the Services PMI registered 54.9 percent in September, down 0.5 percentage point from 55.4 in August, a 27th straight month of expansion. Business activity fell 5.2 points to 56.5 from 61.7. New orders were 59.8, down from 60.9. Employment moved back into expansion at 50.1 from 47.8. Supplier deliveries were 53.2, up from 51.3. The prices index rose to 74 from 72.6, the highest since July 2022 (74.5). Inventories were 57.8, backlog of orders 56.6, new export orders 46.9, and imports 52.9. Thirteen industries reported growth and four reported contraction.
