New single-family sales were 684,000 in August
The Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development said sales of new single-family houses in August were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 684,000. That is 6.4 percent above the revised July rate of 643,000 and 2.0 percent below the August 2025 rate of 698,000. New houses for sale were 483,000, unchanged from July, a supply of 8.5 months after 9.0 months in July. The median sales price was 393,700 dollars, after 392,200 dollars in July. The average sales price was 478,700 dollars.
