PCE prices rose 0.3 percent in August, 3.4 percent yearly
The Bureau of Economic Analysis said the PCE price index increased 0.3 percent in August after 0.1 percent in July, and 3.4 percent from a year earlier. Excluding food and energy, the index increased 0.2 percent on the month and 3.0 percent on the year. Personal income increased $66.6 billion, or 0.2 percent. Disposable personal income increased $68.6 billion, or 0.3 percent. Personal consumption expenditures increased $190.8 billion, or 0.9 percent. The personal saving rate was 4.1 percent.
